About Rebekah

I am so glad you’ve stopped by, friend, and hope the Lord richly blesses your time here! Grab a cup of coffee, take a seat, and stay a while!

If you’re anything like me, you like to feel like you actually know the face behind the blog you’re reading, so here you go…….

My name is Rebekah Hargraves, and I am a twenty-something Christian, wife, mama to 2, and Texas-native-turned-Tennessean.

As the author of the books Lies Moms Believe (And How the Gospel Refutes Them!) and the Lies Moms Believe Companion Bible Study, I write a lot about the importance of mamas understanding the truths and implications of the gospel and then allowing them to impact their daily journey of mothering. I am also passionate about equipping women to walk by the Spirit in grace and truth, and to that end serve as editor-in-chief of Spirit Filled Woman Magazine. I also delight in equipping women to live out Biblical womanhood in light of the gospel, so enjoy the opportunity I have to do just that via the Home and Hearth podcast, a bi-weekly interview-based show that covers any and all topics pertaining to a woman’s life, addressing them through the lens of the truth of God’s Word.

I am passionate about providing women with great resources to aid them in their desire to walk by the Spirit and abide in Christ and to that end also produce courses and pen the weekly Saturday Morning Savor newsletter.

Speaking is another passion of mine, and I have had the privilege of speaking to moms at a local church, being one of the speakers for an online marriage conference, and “speaking” to my followers weekly via FB Live.

I am a staff writer at Project Inspired and my writing has also appeared on sites such as Her View From Home, To Love, Honor, and Vacuum, Flourish Motherhood, the Christian Post, Raising Homemakers, and the over 30 blogs for which I have guest-posted.

The many things I do online, however, do not make up the sum total of my life by any means. Rather, they are an outworking of the passion I have for my home and family and the work I do with and for them on a daily basis. Truly, my online work is an extension of my family and is, in essence, a family ministry. My husband is my behind-the-scenes tech guru, editing all my podcasts, designing all my artwork for my blog posts, and more. As they say - it takes teamwork to make the dream work! ? And, if you want to hear more from him and learn more about our family dynamics, I welcome you to check out this episode of the podcast where he was my guest!

Speaking of, let me introduce you to my family!

On Saturday, March 15th, 2014, I married my best friend, my Airman, Owen Hargraves. While we’ve only been married four years, I can already see the huge ways in which we have grown (by God’s amazing grace!) both as a couple and individually. We are not the same people we were when we got married - we have had our viewpoints changed by the Lord on a number of topics. But as a result we have emerged as stronger marriage partners, better ministers of the gospel, and, hopefully, more encouraging to those around us. Being the wife of such a godly, courageous, caring, bold, sensitive, hilarious, hard-working visionary of a man is an absolute joy. He’s by no means perfect and we have definitely had our crazy ups and downs and moments when I wanted to beat my head against a wall in frustration (ever been there? ? ), but God is good and that man right there is my best friend, biggest fan, most faithful encourager, and the one who encourages me to chase my dreams like none other.

On Sunday, January 11, 2026 (yes - 10 months into our marriage!), the Lord greatly blessed us through the birth of our firstborn, our sweet girl, Anna Katherine. She is such a joy to us! She loves to be silly, have her Daddy dance her around the room, make the same silly faces her daddy does, shower her little brother in kisses and hugs (sometimes to his chagrin! ? ), wear princess dresses and twirl around, ask questions about Jesus, laugh super loudly, and chatter, chatter, chatter! She’s full of life for sure.

Then on Tuesday, November 29th, 2016, the Lord richly blessed us through the birth of our second child, our sweet son James Owen. He is something else! He was quite the high maintenance handful as a baby, refusing to sleep, dealing with an egg and dairy allergy (which rendered me without those things for 6 months!), and always being super clingy. But he is now one of the most laid back, easy going, sweetest little boys. He thinks his big sister hung the moon (when he’s not ready to hang her as a result of a squabble over a toy! ? ), has a voracious appetite, LOVES music and our daily dance parties, and can charm anyone. Don’t let this picture fool you - it was taken at the end of a long family photo session, and he was tired! ?

I could well be described as…..

  • a voracious reader and bibliophile
  • a coffee and tea addict
  • a procrastinator (just keeping it real, folks-you’ll actually find a lot of realness here; no claims to perfection from this here blogger!)
  • a bargain-hunter
  • a lover of animals (yes, I would be one of those gals who would cry if she ever ran over a squirrel or any other little critter)
  • a little bit crunchy (or also known as very pro-natural remedies and healthy living-I’m even one of those weird people who makes their own toothpaste and uses essential oils for everything! :P)

More Little Fun Facts About Me…..

  • I have never in my life climbed a tree (as a child I was too concerned about the bugs that might be residing in the trees and would much rather have been inside reading, anyway! )
  • I am really afraid of spiders!
  • I was homeschooled all through school, but actually skipped second grade.
  • I almost always have music playing (usually Christian or celtic) and the diffuser going in my house.
  • I wish daily afternoon high tea time were the cultural norm here as it always was in England. So fun!
  • Having my hair pulled or caught in something is one of my absolute biggest pet peeves.
  • I had never been guilty of anything even resembling road rage until I got pregnant with Anna and my hormones went haywire (people slowing down at green lights?? Ain’t nobody got time for that! :P).
  • I am of the belief that the darker the chocolate, the better!

The Motivation Behind Hargraves Home & Hearth

First off, why “Hargraves Home and Hearth”? Well, I titled my blog this for two reasons. One of which is that “home” all encompasses the many topics you will find discussed here, while “hearth” is an old-fashioned name for the fireplace. It was once considered to be the center of the home, around which the whole family and any guests there, would gather and visit. The hearth was the central hub of hospitality, as it were, and I want to recapture that beautiful old-fashioned concept here.

Second, when you visit my blog, I want you to feel like you have actually stepped right into my home. I want you to feel welcome and at home here and as if I am visiting with you, not writing at you. I want this to be a warm place of inspiration, comfort, encouragement, and enrichment for your life.

What Topics Can I Expect to See Covered Here?

Hargraves Home and Hearth is all about encouraging women in Biblical womanhood and gospel-centered living. So, if it at all pertains to womanhood, it will be talked about here-issues pertaining to our walk with the Lord, our marriages, our mothering, homemaking, health and natural living, singleness, work and ministry, and more!

To help illustrate this fact, my husband created this fun little graphic:

One thing I love about the graphic he made is that at the center of all the craziness in our lives as women-the grocery shopping, to-do lists, marriage issues, educating and training of children, tending to illnesses, laundry, financial issues, work, and more, should be Christ and His Word. Or, as my hubby titled the graphic, “Order in Chaos”. Christ alone brings order to the midst of our crazy daily lives. And it is the prayer of my heart that all you find talked about here on the blog helps to further illustrate that for you and make it become a reality in your life.

One topic I am particularly passionate about is equipping women to know and understand the truths of the gospel and how they pertain to Biblical womanhood. Having come through a decade-long season of legalism and wrong ideas as to what constitutes as Biblical womanhood, what “Biblical” women do, how they dress, how they act, where they work, what roles they take on, and more, I have - by God’s grace! - come to see just how wrong I had been and just how robust, impactful, freeing, beautiful, and diverse Biblical womanhood can actually look in each of our lives. This is why you will see quite a few articles around here pertaining to false views of womanhood and what God’s Word actually says in response.
