  • FRIDAY INTRODUCTIONS TIME! 😊
.
Hey, friends! So glad you’re here! I know there are several new folks here this week, so I thought I would do the first #fridayintroductions I’ve done in a little while! And, if you’re new around here, please do introduce yourself in the comments and share how you came across my page! I’d love to get to know you!
.
I’m Rebekah, a 26-year-old wife to Owen (married 5 years), mama to Anna (4) and James (2), author of #liesmomsbelieve and the #liesmomsbelievecompanionbiblestudy, founder and editor-in-chief of @spiritfilledwomanmag, blogger at #hargraveshomeandhearth, and host of the #homeandhearthpodcast. I also work as a staff writer for @projectinspired and have the honor of being on the devotional writing team for @thrivemoms.
.
Now for some random fun facts...
.
•I have started doing something I was sure I would never ever do - I have gone from always reading 4-5 books at once to now only reading one book at a time! 😳 Who am I anymore?? 🤣 The reason for the switch was that I was finding that it was becoming hard for me to actually finish books, when I was always jumping from reading part of one to reading part of another. Now I zero in on one book at a time, and find myself typically finishing a book a week. This is great, especially considering all the books I end up needing to read in a timely manner in order to write a review of them on the blog!
.
I have English, French, German, and Dutch in my ancestry.
.
My grandma once traced her ancestry back to a great-uncle who fought in the Revolutionary War as well as to relatives who were in England in the 1630s. We’re not totally sure what happened in between, though, and when our family actually came to America.
.
As big of a tea drinker as I am, I don’t like chamomile tea.
.
I’m deathly afraid of spiders.
.
I can’t swim worth a flip.
.
Now, I would love to hear from you! Are you a one-book-at-a-time kind of person or do you read multiple books at once? And what countries are represented in your ancestry?
.
Have a particular question you would like me to answer? Head to my Instastories and let me know! 💕
.
Happy Friday!

  • These little faces. Goodness, how I love them so. And there is nothing mundane about serving, feeding, teaching, raising, reading to, disciplining, or playing with them. There is nothing mundane about being called to be their mama.
.
Is it repetitive work? Yes.
.
Is it exhausting work sometimes? Yes.
.
Does it *feel* like drudgery sometimes? Yes. But since when do we rely on our feelings to tell us what’s true?
.
No, mothering isn’t truly mundane. It may feel like it sometimes, but it isn’t. After all, raising tiny humans to be the future leaders of tomorrow and stewarding well eternal souls couldn’t possibly be mundane!
.
Today is full of life-changing, world-impacting, eternity-altering, God-honoring work. Let’s view it as such and rise to the occasion! 🙌🏻
.
Who’s with me? 💕

  • MOTHERHOOD AND THE GOSPEL
.
Y’all know how passionate I am about the power of the gospel and how impactful it is in the everyday moments of motherhood (I wrote about this in #liesmomsbelieve). Well, what you may not know is that this gal right here, @emily___jensen, along with her sister-in-law, @laurawifler, of @risenmotherhood, were two of the first people to really inspire me in this area.
.
For years I subconsciously thought that the gospel was just good news for our eternity, that it was almost more cerebral than it was practical. But Emily was used by God to show me the error of my ways, and I’m so glad, because I have not been the same since!
.
If you want to come to a more full orbed understanding of the relevancy and power of the gospel on your everyday mothering moments, then you won’t want to miss this interview we conducted with Emily for issue 3 of @spiritfilledwomanmag, (which is available now in our shop at www.spiritfilledwomanmag.com/shop)!

  • I WANT MY “WORK LIFE” AND MY “MOM LIFE” TO FEED, BLESS, AND INSPIRE EACH OTHER
.
As I shared when talking about @kfunston’s #moreformombook yesterday, Kristin has inspired me to see that God never intended for our lives to be segmented into different compartments such as “wife life”, “mom life”, “home life”, and “work life”. Instead He desires for us to live whole, holistic lives wherein each role we play blesses, inspires, and feeds the others.
.
This is my desire for my life as a work-at-home mom.
.
I don’t want to divide myself into “entrepreneur” and “mom” and put on and take off those hats at different times of the day, believing that those two different roles have nothing to do with one another.
.
Instead, I want my work to inspire, help provide for, and serve my kids.
.
And, let’s face it - my motherhood definitely inspires my work (#liesmomsbelievebook, anyone? 😉).
.
I think this is life as God intended it. It isn’t that mothering takes me away from my work or that my work takes me away from my kids.
.
It’s that God has called me to live out proper priorities, has called me to take on both roles, and has called me to work and mother in such a way that both areas of my life are mutually benefitted by the other. That, I think, is a great way to live! 💕
.
.
📷Cred: Anna, who had awakened one morning to find me working on a newsletter and snapped this pic. 😊💕
.
Tell me - what does this look like for you? What are two specific roles in your own life that you seek to live out holistically and have each benefit the other? I’d love to hear! Share in the comments 👇🏻

  • KNOWING CHRIST IS WORTH MORE THAN ANY PRAISE, ACCOLADE, OR ACCOMPLISHED TO-DO LIST EVER COULD BE
.
Even though I had read this passage from Philippians 3 a number of times, this verse in particular stood out to me as never before when I read it again yesterday.
.
So often, we as women lament that we are too busy to be in the Word (more thoughts on that in my “Bible Study” highlight!). But, here’s the deal - being a student of the Word is the single most important pursuit of our entire life. Why? Because it is primarily through His Word that you come to know Christ and Who He truly is. And that then impacts every other area of your life!
.
In the verses leading up to this one, Paul had been chronicling all the many accomplishments, accolades, and reasons he had to boast in himself. And then he says they are all as dung in comparison to the ultimate most important thing of knowing Christ.
.
This means then, friend, that knowing the Lord (i.e. being in His Word) is far more important than your accomplishing everything on today’s to-do list.
.
It’s far more important than accomplishing every goal you set out to achieve in 2019.
.
It’s more important than building up a social media platform of folks who will be enthralled by all your great Bible knowledge.
.
It’s more important than “making” your dream happen of publishing a book, running a marathon, buying a house, or traveling the country.
.
It’s even more important than having a perfectly spotless house or Ivy-league destined children.
.
Nothing is more important than knowing Christ. It is through that knowledge that we become equipped for every other area of our lives.
.
So, what will it be, friend? What changes need to be made in your daily schedule in light of this truth? Share your thoughts in the comments below! 👇🏻💕

  • IT’S GIVEAWAY TIME! 🙌🏻😍🎉

.
What I especially love about Kristin‘s book is that she points out throughout it that God never intended for us to live segmented lives, lives split between the “secular” and the “sacred”, lives divided up into the “wife life”, mom life”, “work life”, “ministry life”, “home life”, and so on. As Kristin says, we are not to be segmented individuals with all these split personalities. Rather, God desires for us to live whole, holistic lives, lives where every role or responsibility we live out affects each and every other one, and with the truths and goodness of God flow through them all.

  • BOOK REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY!
.
As a Christian mom who desires to surround my kiddos with books which will point them to Jesus, I end up with a lot of Bible storybooks for kids hanging around. When the opportunity arose to review Amy Parker’s new Bible storybook, however, I immediately jumped in to do so, despite our ever-growing list of such books.
.
I have to say, I’m really glad I did!
.
Each of the 30 Bible stories begins with a 6-8 page retelling of a story from the Bible and ends with a nighttime prayer and a sweet little rhyme intended to comfort your child and instill God’s truth into his or her heart. It’s delightful, because it will inspire God’s Word to be what your children are meditating on as they drift off into a peaceful sleep.
.
My kids (ages 4 and 2) both really enjoy this Bible storybook even though it can even be geared towards children a little older than they are. Each daily reading was short enough to keep their attention while also being long enough to capture several important truths. The lyrical, whimsical nature of the writing combined with the beautiful, full-color illustrations make this Bible storybook the perfect addition to your family’s library! I highly recommend it.
