Book Review + Giveaway: 3 New Spiritual Journals from Waterbrook Press

Multnomah/Waterbrook Press recently contacted me about the three new journals they released, and I am thrilled today to be able to not only offer you a review of them, but a giveaway, as well!
To start things off and provide you with a description of each journal, here is their official press release:
New Journals Inspire Daily Reflection, Creativity
“While you are proclaiming peace with your lips, be careful to have it even more fully in your heart.”St. Francis of Assisi
WaterBrook, an imprint of Penguin Random House, knows that life in today’s world can be loud, busy and joy-draining. The Daily Question: My Five Year Spiritual Journal (WaterBrook, Oct. 3, 2017), 30 Days to Joy (WaterBrook, Oct. 17, 2017), and 30 Days to Peace (WaterBrook, Oct. 17, 2017) are original, interactive journals that offer opportunities to quiet the noise and embark on soul-transforming journeys.

What is robbing you of joy right now? What experience most shaped your faith this past year? The Daily Question (WaterBrook, Oct. 3, 2017) poses 365 questions a year—designed to be answered five years in a row—to help you create a time capsule of your spiritual journey. With questions about your view of yourself, your view of God, and your current circumstances, this journal is a simple but beautiful way to keep a collection of your hopes and thoughts throughout the years. Capture milestones and memories all in one place with The Daily Question.
Doodle, write, laugh, pray, sing, snap photos—there are no wrong answers! 30 Days to Joy (WaterBrook, Oct. 17, 2017) is a month-long journal filled with creative prompts, inspirational quotes and Bible verses, and even a section to create your very own joyful playlist. With prompts such as “What is a truth that always brings you joy?” and “Fill these two pages with gratitude,” this designated space to create is the perfect guide to renew your outlook on life and bring you into deeper joy.
30 Days to Peace (WaterBrook, Oct. 17, 2017) is a breath of fresh air amid the demands of our daily lives. Through daily artistic prompts, this month-long creative journal invites you to slow down, be present in the moment, reconcile distressed relationships and rediscover what it means to experience peace. Quotes from C.S. Lewis, St. Francis of Assisi, Martin Luther and many others decorate the pages with encouragement and offer opportunities to ponder the lasting peace of God.
“We hope that our new products can help people to spend time peacefully processing their lives and faith in creative and restorative ways,” says Susan Tjaden, WaterBrook and Multnomah editor and member of the development team. “The interactive products are intended to be both useful and beautiful, resulting in a keepsake they can come back to year after year.”
I can personally attest to these words. What first stood out to me right away about these journals was the winsome, beautiful, old-fashioned feel of them. If you are familiar with Lamplighter books or the Barnes & Noble editions of classic literary masterpieces, such as Jane Austen’s works, the binding, book covers, and overall feel of these journals are much like those. Which was a delight to me as someone who loves old-timey books and beauty!
The Peace and Joy journals provide the perfect opportunity to slow down, savor the moment, and truly reflect on the blessings of God that are already present in your everyday life (if you just take a moment to notice them!). The inner pages of these journals are absolutely beautiful, complete with spaces to record your thoughts, lovely artwork, and impactful quotes printed in delightful script. They are truly a masterpiece, and will provide you with a beautiful testimony to look back on of the goodness and blessings of God in your life!

In some ways, I think the Daily Question journal is my favorite of the three. So often, we fail to take the time to really notice how the Lord is working in our lives, to journal what we are learning and when, and to commemorate all that the Lord is doing. This journal provides the perfect opportunity to do all of those things, but in a way that is not stressful and will not add just “one more thing” onto your to-do list. In a beautiful yet simple way, this journal provides you with  journaling space to answer the same question on the same day for five years in a row to see how the Lord is working, changing, blessing, and teaching you. I love it!

If you are looking for something lovely to use this holiday season to help you slow down, savor, and notice the blessings all around you, these journals are perfect for you! They would also make beautiful Christmas gifts. With that in mind, I have an exciting announcement to make – IT’S GIVEAWAY TIME!!!
