One of Louie’s most viral sermons was on the scientific element laminin, and he often preaches and writes on the glory of God as displayed through creation. • Weather and the atmosphere”
If you are familiar at all with the presentation referenced above which Louie Giglio gave regarding laminin or his presentation on the stars and the sound of the universe, then you know why I was excited to check out this new book! Louie is gifted in educating us on the amazing facts of the physical world which point repeatedly to the existence of God as Divine Creator and which reveal His fingerprints on everything. That is precisely what Louie continues to do in this new devotional for kids.
We live in an age in which our children are being bombarded by folks who disdain the idea of “creation” or a “Creator” and who don’t beat around the bush when it comes to pushing their views of evolution. We’re living in a time when yes, we need to first and foremost know the truths of God’s Word - ultimately, that is the most important thing. However, we also need to be well-versed in scientific facts, as well, and be able to present the truth of how, rather than negating the Bible, science actually repeatedly points to and confirms the truths of God’s Word. This devotional is perfect for helping us attain that very goal with our kids.
Additionally, I believe that we need to stop falling prey to the evolutionary claims out there which lead us Bible-believing Christians to begin fearing “science”. We don’t need to fear science. No, we need to be embracing the study of the natural world. God created it and wants us to not only learn about it and discover its mysteries and miracles, but He also wants us to delight in and enjoy it, thereby giving Him glory in the process. This devotional is perfect for inspiring us and our kids in this area, as well.
Each of the 100 devotionals contains a passage of Scripture, a devotional thought about that passage and the area of science it corresponds to, a prayer, and an interesting scientific fact about a surprising animal, an interesting weather phenomenon, a strange plant, etc. Each devotional can be read and discussed in a matter of about 5 minutes, making it super easy to incorporate the daily reading of one or to also allow you to read several at once, if you want.
I highly recommend this devotional, and think you and your children will enjoy it and be as fascinated by it as I (and my toddler and the 8 year old I nanny) have been. It’s perfect for the parent who wants to have their child’s eyes opened to the wonders of God’s Word and His creation, and it would likewise serve as an excellent supplementary science curriculum for the homeschool mom.
Either way, you are bound to come away inspired, encouraged, amazed, and excited after reading it! You can purchase your own copy here.
